Equality Objectives & Accessibility Plan
Background: The Public Sector Equality Duty was introduced by the Equality Act 2010 and applies to all schools, including maintained schools, academies, independent schools, maintained nursery schools, and maintained and non-maintained special schools.
The public sector equality duty (PSED) requires schools to publish information to demonstrate how they are complying with the PSED – we do this by publishing Equality Information, and by preparing and publishing equality objectives, which schools must update at least once every 4 years. Our Equalities Information and Objectives document was last reviewed and adopted by Governors in November 2020, with objectives reviewed annually. It is available to view and download below. The next review will be November 2024.
Schools must also have an up to date accessibility plan that has been approved by the governing body. The plan must help schools:
- Do all they can to support disabled pupils to access and participate in the curriculum
- Improve the physical environment to enable disabled pupils to take better advantage of the education, benefits, facilities and services provided
- Make all disabled pupils aware of accessibility plans and information
Lindhead School's Accessibility Plan is closely linked to our Equality Information. The plan was last reviewed and adopted by Governors in November 2020 and is available to view and download below:
