Lindhead School is committed to healthy living and learning. We promote an active lifestyle as recognised by our receipt of North Yorkshire's Health and Well Being Award in November 2015.
This funding is typically aimed at:
- hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified sports coaches to work with primary teachers when teaching PE
- supporting and engaging the least active children through new and additional sporting activities
- paying for professional development activities through PE and support (providing cover to release to staff)
- increasing participation in sports activities and competitions
- providing extra curricular sporting and outdoor activities
- developing healthy lifestyles
- pooling funding together with other primary schools to enhance local provision
- achieving performance standards children are capable of
Lindhead School is part of the local Sports Partnership and we participate in as many events as possible. A range of additional activities have been delivered examples are, Zumba, Boot Camp, Lishi Chinese Excercise, outdoor pursuits, tennis, golf, cricket and fitness sessions at the local rugby club. Further sports activities are planned for the future.
Significant funding has been allocated to the purchase of new resources and their necessary storage. Some examples of this are badminton sets, various targets, nets and goals, a selection of rackets, balls and athletic equipment.
Individual staff have been trained in High 5 Netball, Gymnastics, Early Years PE, Fundamental Movement Skills, swimming and Tag Rugby.
We aim for our children to embrace fit and healthy lifestyles and develop a passion for their chosen sport. We recognise that for some children this is a challenge however, we will continue to try and find a sporting activity that they can enjoy participating in.
