Welcome to Maths at Lindhead
At Lindhead we take a step-by-step approach to maths so children feel capable and curious. We follow the White Rose small-steps curriculum, which builds ideas gradually and shows how number, shape, measure and data connect from Year 1 to Year 6.
Learning usually moves from hands-on to pictorial and then written methods (the concrete → pictorial → abstract journey). Each unit balances practice with chances to explain thinking and try small problems, using consistent representations and simple workbooks.
Every child is different, so classrooms include routine supports for everyone and extra help where it’s needed — from vocabulary prompts and scaffolds to pre-teaching key ideas. Teachers check in little and often, with a termly look at the bigger picture.
At home, small, everyday moments can really help: spot numbers, count in steps, read a clock together, compare prices in shops, or measure while cooking. Little and often makes the biggest difference. Below you’ll find the yearly overviews for each year group; if you have questions, your class teacher will be happy to help.
